Omar El Kebbe

Welcome to another exciting After Effects tutorial! Today we will create a Title mask using Roto brush:

Step 1:

  • Duplicate your Footage
  • Name it “Footage Roto brush”

Step 2:

  • Double Click on “Footage Roto brush”
  • Click on the Roto brush Tool
  • Highlight the part of the video that is in front of the text.

Step 3:

  • Double Click on the Text Tool
  • Type your title
  • Place it in the desired area
  • Move the Text layer under the layer called “Footage Roto brush”

Step 4:

  • Create a new Null Object
  • Name it “Camera Movement”
  • Move it under the Text layer

Step 5:

  • Click on the layer “Footage”
  • Go to the “Tracker Panel”
  • Click “Track Motion”
  • Move and place the Tracker to a contrasted point in the video.
  • Click on “Edit Target”
  • Select the Null Object “Camera Movement”
  • Click on the play button to analyze the footage
  • Click on “Apply”
  • Link the Text layer with the Null object using the Pick Whip Tool

Now, depending on your footage, change the settings of the next step. For this tutorial we are placing the title on a glass Background:

  • Link the Text layer with the Null object using the Pick Whip Tool
  • Change the mode of the Text Layer to “Soft Light”
  • Adjust the opacity to 50%
  • Add the effect “Camera Lens Blur”, adjust the amount to “2”
  • Add the effect “Noise”, adjust the amount to 50%

We hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it helpful in your creative journey. Until next time, keep creating and innovating!
